For many people, the concept of standing before a crowd giving a speech terrifies them to the bone. Not me! At least, not anymore. I spent much of my life being soft-spoken, an observer in the back of the class, always possessing my own unique thoughts or approach to a problem but too shy to chime in. That all changed when I started college and embraced the "blank slate" that awaited me. No one knew me, so why not? As I've continued to grow, so has my ability to command a room and now I truly enjoy speaking among others. I'm not perfect, and thus I'm always seeking ways to improve. I especially love speaking when it's about a topic that I'm knowledgeable in (like scholarships) or passionate about (such as study abroad). If you've met me, then you know how genuine and positive I am: I bring that same authenticity to the stage as I try to inspire my audience. If you're looking for an all-star college student, young professional, study abroad alumnus, woman in tech or a scholarship guru, feel free to reach out and have me speak. For now, I do this as a volunteer endeavor because I find it fun and rewarding.

My dream? ultimately, I would like to give my own tedx talk.
Part of this is because I believe in the message of "ideas worth spreading", promoted by TED. I also like the notion of creating an 18 minute talk that could inspire thousands for years to come. I'm still thinking on a topic, but in the meantime I'm collecting life experiences and volunteering. To date, I have helped organize two TEDx conferences, which are independently organized from the greater TED organization. These were in Ingolstadt, Germany (2015) and St. Cloud, Minnesota (2017). Most noteworthy about each of these, was that they were the inaugural event in each of these cities, requiring extra planning and both were exceptional experiences. These are the TEDx presenters (above) from TEDx St. Cloud, an event for which I designed out lobby experience and helped select all our speakers. Other TED or TEDx presenters I enjoy include:
- Sheryl Sandberg
- Linda Liukas
- Maysoon Zayid
- Amanda Palmer
I am also proud to say that I am involved again in TEDxStCloud happening in October 2018. I helped select our theme, speakers and will be leading our lobby engagement sub-team once again, tasked with making it "feel" like a TEDx and directing guests.
