I'm ALWAYS TRAVELING!
(and meeting new people)
In my free time, I enjoy going to new places whether it's for business or pleasure. I've traveled to various places in the United States and abroad, specifically France and Germany. I believe traveling is such a great experience because it allows individuals to grow and to meet new people. I'm always looking for opportunities to learn. create new relationships, and expand my global knowledge.
France June 2009 & JUNE 2012
In 2009 I had the opportunity to go to France for 3 weeks with my mother and grandmother, just before I started high school. It was the first time I'd been out of the US and I loved it. It was so eye-opening to be in a country with so much history and to see monuments in person. They are much larger that you'd expect. In 2012, I decided to go with a school group for 2 weeks as a study abroad. We went all across the country, and although it was fast-paced, I had a blast. The best part for me was probably the family stay in which I lived with a young French girl in La Rochelle for 5 days. I had to rely on my French speaking abilities because her English wasn't put together, but I liked the challenge and my French improved tremendously.

HALSEY SPORTS TOURNAMENT IN ST. PAUL, MN 2014
Halsey is a yearly volleyball/basketball tournament between collegiate and alumni Brothers in Delta Sigma Pi. It's a weekend long event, with the tournament taking place on Saturday and a banquet and dance to follow that evening. I was one of four from my chapter to attend that year in January 2014.

PROVINCIAL LEAD SCHOOL IN CORALVILLe, IA 2015
This past semester, in February 2015, I had the chance to drive down to a conference in Coralville, Iowa for the Delta Sigma Pi Provincial LEAD school. I attended four breakout sessions and learned how to instill loyalty in people, how to better succeed at college, and the power of networking. There was a banquet that night and a member from my chapter won a national award. It was the perfect mix of social and business.

HALSEY SPORTS TOURNAMENT IN LINCOLN, NE 2015
In February 2015, I lead a small group of Brothers from my Delta Sigma Pi chapter to the annual sports tournament, previously held in St. Paul. I was the delegate for my chapter and position holder in charge of recruiting attendees, reserving the hotel and transporting us all there. The weekend itself consisted of our team playing volleyball and networking with other Brothers (alumni and collegiate) at the banquet and other events.

Clinton global initiative university:Miami, fl 2015
The Clinton Global Initiative University is a national conference held each year hosted by the Clinton family and Clinton Foundation in which students, university representatives, topic experts and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to global challenges. This year CGIU was held at the University of Miami, Florida. I had to opportunity to go and network with other students and presenters not only about global issues at hand, but also about my commitment project: "Girl Code". This social venture was started by my colleague, Liheng Xu, and myself to encourage young girls to pursue STEM careers, namely in technology. We hope to achieve this over the next few years by reaching out to high school girls in the St. Cloud area and teaching them to code through workshops and seminars, a unique experience that many probably have never been exposed to. Our thinking is that the challenge of working with code hands-on will spark interest in the field.

NCCWSL in Washington, d.c. 2015
NCCWSL is a national conference in which college, female leaders gather to share ideas, listen to remarkable women, and get inspired by one another. I was sponsored by the St. Cloud area branch in Minnesota to attend the event and it changed my life. I met many incredible leaders and saw some great presentations, including those by Nancy Hogshead-Makar and Maysoon Zayid.

Grand chapter congress in Chicago, il 2015
In addition to seeing many of the sites in Chicago: defying heights at the Willis Tower, "beaning" in Millenium Park, exploring the depths of Shedd aquarium, and riding the ferris wheel at Navy Pier, I had the amazing opportunity to be my chapter's delegate to the 50th Grand Chapter Congress. I represented my chapter, met many interesting individuals, sat in on all business sessions, and partook in legislation for the future of our organization. It was difficult at times and confusing, but being the delegate was a wonderful growing experience. I was also recognized for the 2015 Achievement Award by a representative from GEICO, someone I'd been emailing, who happened to be there and I received the Delta Sigma Pi scholarship for the North Central Province. Additionally, I spent my time during the provided meals volunteering by selling raffle tickets as a fundraiser and was pleased to accept the following awards as the delegate of my chapter: North Central Region Outstanding Alumni Relations, North Central Province Outstanding Alumni Relations, North Central Region District Director of the Year, and North Central Province District Director of the Year. I assisted with each of these applications with the help of my amazing team of Brothers, and was proud of our results. My personal and fraternal life have been changed forever, in a good way, and I'm enthusiastic about the future.

study abroad in GERMANY (Sept-Dec) 2015
During my fifth semester of college, I studied abroad in Ingolstadt, Germany. I improved my communication, networking and culinary skills while abroad and made dozens of friends from many countries. In addition to that I interacted with multiple businesses in Bavaria. I traveled to the Czech Republic, Portugal and Spain. In my four months I had an amazing, worthwhile, and skill-building experiences from my adventures. Feel free to check out my blog to see what I did. The highlights were helping organize a TEDx event, touring the AUDI headquarters, Oktoberfest, company parties at Maloon (social media company), proofreading documentation for a German smart light bulb company, connecting with my German relatives and spending Christmas with them, and reconnecting with former exchange students in Hamburg (where I spent New Years with my sister who flew over to visit).

TEDx EVENT in Ingolstadt, GERMANY 2015
I found out about the conference two months before I was leaving for Germany to study abroad so I reached out to the organizers to ask if I could join the team. They said yes! Two days after arriving in Germany I went to my first TEDx meeting which was held nine days before the event would occur. With a week to go, I stepped up and designed name tags, buttons, wifi info table toppers, offered suggestions, gave feedback, helped solve problems, shopped for supplies, and assisted in bringing to light the vision that the four founding team members had in mind. During the day of the event I oversaw everyone, assigned volunteers to positions (some of which were students I'd encouraged to help), and troubleshooted any problems that arose. I was even able to encourage a handful of international students to attend the event. The most difficult part was the language barriers, because my German is far from perfect. Much of the event and organizing was in English but I was exposed to lots of German through emails and on-site planning, had to adapt to German design standards, and overall it was a very interesting experience. The best part was meeting incredible people like those on the TEDx team and the speakers. I love talking with people, so I felt right at home.

Digital@campus 2015 in Ingolstadt, DE
While in Germany, a fellow TEDx organizer's friend's friend, the CEO of ComfyLight, approached me to proofread documents for their company. Talk about the power of networking, this was at least three degrees. I was offered the job because I'm a native English speaker and had worked with this individual for TEDx. I read all the document, all 20+ pages in a timely manner. A few weeks later the CEO called me and told me she'd be in town for this tech event at the Media Markt headquarters and invited me. It was an amazing experience! I got to meet individuals in the tech industry in Germany, see some cool tech, listen to individuals giver their pitches and learn loads of new things. It was inspiring.

PROVINCIAL LEAD SCHOOL IN washington, D.C. 2016
Four weeks after returning from Germany, I was off on my next adventure for another conference. I flew out to D.C. by myself to attend a Delta Sigma Pi conference. This was the first provincial conference I'd attended outside my province. I was able to meet loads of new individuals, mostly because I was surrounded by students from my school, and I attended some great sessions. It may have been one of the best conferences I've been to, since I had to challenge myself to get outside my comfort zone. The highlight of the weekend was bumping into a Brother I had met at the national conference in Chicago, because neither one of us expected that! I made friends with many of the students from her chapter and met Brothers everywhere, even the airport!

PROVINCIAL LEAD SCHOOL IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN 2016
The weekend after Washington D.C., I traveled to the next provincial Delta Sigma Pi conference, though only an hour away in Minneapolis. I went with Brothers from my chapter, including my younger sister who is a member. This conference was different from any other I'd been to because I lead a breakout session. I gave a presentation about scholarships, as I've been a frequent winner, and spoke about my story in order to encourage students to fund their college experience the "smart way". One of the Brothers from my chapter took those words to heart and I have been helping her search since. At the banquet Saturday night I was awarded the 2016 North Central Regional Collegian of the Year award, which was such an honor. The whole weekend was a amazing as I grew personally and fraternally and bonded with many people.

Halsey sports tournament in Des Moines, IA 2016
Two weeks after Minneapolis, I traveled to my third Halsey event in Des Moines, IA with eight other Brothers from my chapter. We represented our chapter well, played volleyball and even won the Mark Dorn Spirit Award. One Brother and I presented our bid for the event to be held at our school next year in front of a group of Brothers just after the tournament. We did not win the bid but we are prepared to try again next year and learned a lot about the process. It was a fun experience!

AAUW TECH SAVVY in St. Cloud, mn 2016
This was the first ever Tech Savvy at St. Cloud State, hosted by the AAUW and a number of other groups. It was a one-day conference in which middle school aged girls got to attend workshops on campus and get exposed to technology! Mark Gill, the VizLab lead, and I lead a session on 3D scanning, printing and virtual reality and let the girls loose in the lab. They absolutely loved it! Their little faces lit up as the put on the Oculus Rift or moved a virtual skull with their fingers. Overall it was a really great experience. Well done AAUW! I think we expanded some minds.

NORTH/SOUTH CAROLINA: summer vacation 2016
During my summer I flew to Charlotte, NC to visit a college friend. During my time there I visited Charleston, SC and hiked through a trail in the Smokey Mountains. I also went on two job shadows and enjoyed exploring a new, very hot, part of the country. It was a really fun experience and I met some new people too.
LEadershape institute in champaign, il in 2016
Awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend the 6 day conference July 24 -29th, 2016
I had the amazing opportunity to attend the LeaderShape Institute on behalf of a scholarship provided by the Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation. Another Brother from Florida also received the scholarship and the two of us were sent to this conference to learn about ethics, integrity, networking, being better leaders, taking time for ourselves and each and everyday we were pushed to learn new things and dig deeper. I learned so much about myself as a leader, my passions, pushed myself to speak more, collaborated with like-minded students, set more personal goals and I've been challenged to take more action in the future I wish to create. This was hands-down one of the best experiences I've had in school and still impacts me to this day.

FALL LEAD SCHOOL IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI 2016
As the president of my chapter this semester, I was the unofficial delegate for Theta Tau. The event was a 10 hour drive but three of us made the trek and it was an incredible experience. The keynote speaker presented on health and wellness while leading a busy, successful lifestyle, something I have strived for in the past year. I met up with alumni from my school and Minneapolis and met new Brothers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. The two highlights of this conference were getting to support the Leadership Foundation by speaking/volunteering some time while there (as I received a handful of DSP scholarships this year alone) and representing my chapter as we accepted our 7 awards this year, including Chapter of Excellence and National Chapter Adviser of the Year. I am extremely pleased and proud of my chapter and the work they did this past year.

FALL LEAD SCHOOL IN Denver, CO 2016
This was the largest LEAD school in history with over 600 registrants spread across multiple hotels. I have been to numerous conferences and yet I am always amazed at the new things I take away or people I meet. There were sessions on "Leading in a Room Full of Leaders", volunteer leadership within Delta Sigma Pi, power of positivity and how to manage money. All of it was inspiring and I went home the day after and began making some changes. I met Brothers from Jersey, Texas, Arizona, California and more. We even had a Halloween dance party at the hotel that Friday night. I also able to tour the Capitol building, Union Station and the Molly Brown house in Denver itself. This was a pretty successful visit and I made a lot of memories.

HALSEY SPORTS TOURNAMENT IN LINCOLN, NE 2017
My last year in college, twenty three Theta Tau Brothers traveled to Lincoln, NE for another Halsey Basketball Volleyball tournament. This was my fourth time attending. Between our competitive team, non-competitive team and band of cheerleaders we were able to take home three awards: Most Spirit, Most Creative Uniforms and third place in Volleyball. I had such a great time seeing old faces and meeting new ones and exploring Lincoln again. Yia Yia's pizza for instance is just the BEST!
PROVINCIAL LEAD SCHOOL IN CHICAGO, IL 2017
This event marks my final conference as a collegian. I have been a Brother of Delta Sigma Pi since 2013 and seized every opportunity to hold positions, travel, meet people, and learn more about the business world and organization. I have grown as a student, a community member, a young professional and a leader as a result of my involvement. At this particular conference, I lead an hour long breakout session titled "A Scholarship Success Story: Four Years, Zero Debt" in which I presented on how to navigate scholarships and create an ideal profile along the lines of my approach since I will graduate in May with zero loans or debt. I was also awarded both the North Central Regional Collegian of the Year award and more notably the North Central Provincial Collegian of the Year award for my outstanding contributions and commitment to Delta Sigma Pi. I was able to give a speech at the banquet to 450+ members and reflect on what makes DSP so incredible and share my insights. Overall it was an incredible experience and I am proud to be a member and excited to continue giving back in future.
GERMANy & austria: mAY 2017
Forty eight hours after my commencement from St. Cloud State, I was off to Germany and Austria for three and a half weeks. This was a trip I had been dreaming of ever since I returned from study abroad back in January 2016. I flew into Munich, and while I was abroad, I visited nearly 20 cities. In Germany I went to Eichstätt, Munich, Ingolstadt (and Etting), Regensburg, Gaimersheim, Abensberg, Berlin, Nürnberg (and Wendelstein), Unterampfrach, Colmberg, Dinkelsbühl, Feuchtwangen, Ansbach and Dachau. In Austria, I traveled to Vienna, St. Wolfgang, Hallstatt (literally one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen!), Dachstein (technically a mountain I guess), Schmaldming, Gröbming and Salzburg. I covered a lot of ground between these two countries in 24 days. Not only did I get to see many beautiful places, but I also got to reconnect with dozens of people from my time abroad in 2015 and with students who had studied in Minnesota in Fall 2016. I'll try to be brief, but the story of my trip is fascinating. I even brought a journal and wrote each day, in addition to snapping some photos.
Some of the highlights of my return trip were visiting my friends in Ingolstadt, reliving karaoke night at our favorite Irish pub, getting coffee at my favorite cafe Anna's, meeting up with fraternity Brothers in Berlin I'd never meet, befriending some Brazilians and Swedes in Berlin, reconnecting with my Dutch friend from Ingolstadt who was interning in Berlin, visiting a fellow SCSU Husky in Nürnberg, spending time with my relatives in Unterampfrach, speaking to a class of students in Feuchtwangen about the US and Minnesota and best of all, Austria! That was a new place for me and I was able to visit my friend Sarah who had studied in Minnesota the previous semester. She and her family showed me Vienna and took me on a road trip through the mountains. It was beautiful and breath-taking. It was amazing to visit friends whom I had still kept in touch with and I look forward to continuing these friendships down the road. This trip was challenging, exciting, memorable and all my planning paid off.

GRAND CHAPTER CONGRESS IN NEW ORLEANS, LA 2017
This was my second Delta Sigma Pi Grand Chapter congress that I've attended since joining the fraternity. It was held in the Big Easy. I had the honor of sitting as the delegate for the Twin Cities Alumni Chapter which meant I was required to attend all business sessions, listen attentively, interact with candidates and had a hand in shaping the future of our group. In addition to those responsibilities, I served on the national ritual team to help induct one honorary member from the business community, alongside our Grand President and 2017 Collegian of the Year. I gave an introductory speech for one of the two Grand President candidates to a room of over 600 people. And lead a breakout session with my friend/mentor about different recruiting tricks. Throughout the week I was networking, volunteering and learning more about the business world and our fraternity overall. The day after the conference ended I began my job as a project coordinator back in Minnesota.
TEDx EVENT IN sT. cLOUD, mn 2017
In 2017 I helped to organize the first ever TEDx conference in St. Cloud, Minnesota. I was on the organizing team and helped review and select our four speakers. I also lead our Lobby/Engagement sub-committee and was responsible for creating our lobby space, giving it the TEDx feel, creating props for a photo booth, ordering table displays, organizing my volunteers and contributing to a memorable evening. I joined the team in March of my senior year of college and saw the event through until October. Upon completion, I gave a presentation at work about the project management side of the event and all the planning that went into it. The event was a huge success and I loved being part of something truly impactful.

FALL LEAD SCHOOL In omaha, ne 2017
This was one of my first conferences I attended as an alumnus. What made this event special for me was that I attended it with two of my sisters, one who was a collegiate member at the time and the other a pledge, weeks from her final initiation. I was excited for my youngest sister to experience DSP and so I encouraged her to attend her first conference, even paying for her registration and giving her a place in my room. My other roommate was a college student from Georgia who hadn't been to a conference in the north. It was a great event with many collegiate and alumni members. On the last day, my Georgian roommate was able to get us a private tour of the reptile house at the infamous Omaha Zoo, which was remarkable.
Halsey sports tournament IN mINNEAPOLIS 2018
This marks my fifth consecutive year attending this event, and first time as an alumnus. I got to spend time with my local alumni chapter and designed our team shirts, which won first place among all the other chapters. My two lovely sisters (and Brothers) were also present, and both from my home chapter, so I got to connect with Brothers from my university. Throughout the weekend I was taking photos and documenting the event, promoting on social media through my volunteer role as the Provincial Marketing and Communications chair. It was great to see the Halseys again and embrace Brotherhood for a weekend.
PROVINCIAL LEAD SCHOOL IN Milwaukee, wi 2018
This was my third time speaking at a Provincial fraternity conference. I was asked to lead a breakout session about pursuing your path after college, something I literally just went through six months prior. I talked about tips and tricks I'd picked up, provided attendees with a worksheet and tried to encourage them to think proactively about kicking off their career. The morning keynote at this event was incredible, I went to her session directly after mine and was truly inspired. My two younger sisters were also present and members of my home chapter. I represented my alumni chapter as their delegate and sat in on the required business sessions. Throughout the weekend I helped where I could, met dozens of students and documented the event online as the Provincial marketing chair. The weekend encouraged many good discussions, connections and a new motivation for me personally going forward in my professional and fraternal career. These events are always life-changing.
DENVER, CO MAY 2018
My incredible roommate, and fellow travel enthusiast, and I decided to trek back out to Denver for Memorial Day weekend. We'd both attended the fraternity conference back in 2016 but wanted more time to explore. We stayed in a hostel in the heart of North Capitol Hill stopped by various breweries. That Sunday we rented a car and drove out to Red Rock, Estes and Fort Collins. A number of our fraternity Brothers reside in Colorado, so it was great to catch up with them.
DSP Leadership retreat dallas, tx 2018
I had the amazing pleasure of being invited to the bi-annual fraternity leadership retreat held in Dallas in 2018. I had never been to this event, or to Texas. There were dozens of other volunteer leaders and two days of sessions with Tim Augustine and Adam Carroll, two prominent business men, brothers and routine keynote speakers at our conferences. It was an inspiring event with lots of takeaways, and challenged me to think about how I plan to continue to be involved and give back. One of the highlights was reconnecting with my friends from across the US, namely Ohio and Gergia.
SEATTLE, WA AUGUST 2018
My two Austrian friends, Sarah and Flo, finally made their big USA trip! They stopped in Minnesota and stayed with me, but then I flew out to Seattle with my sister to visit them for a week. All four of us stayed in an Airbnb and got to explore the city. I love, love, loved the Chihuly museum and seeing the city skyline from the top of the Needle at night. It was such a fun experience and great to travel more with my friends who just one year ago had traipsed across Austria on a road trip with me.
FALL LEAD SCHOOL IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN 2018
Our fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, hosts conferences each spring and fall, and this time it was in MN. I volunteered as a breakout session facilitator presenting with two Brothers from the U of M, helped review resumes, served on a National Ritual Team for our newest honorary initiate and accepted a handful of awards on behalf of our Twin Cities Alumni Chapter.
XI CHI INITIATION - U OF W, MILWAUKEE November 2019
One of my volunteer roles within my fraternity is serving as the District Director for the Xi Chi chapter in Milwaukee. I keep in touch with the students remotely, offer advice and feedback, and travel out there twice a semester for ceremonies/initiations. It's a wonderfully fulfilling experience and the students are hardworking and ambitious.

XI CHI INITIATION - U OF W, MILWAUKEE April 2019
Over the course of this academic year I have had the privilege to serve as the District Director for the Xi Chi chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I've traveled to Milwaukee a few times over the year and maintained a remote connection with the students to ensure they have a successful year. A friend of mine and I went to the initiation in April to welcome new members and enjoyed their banquet that night.
24TH birthday trip, ireland 2019
Two fraternity brothers, another friend and I went to Ireland for a week over Memorial Day. Our group started in Dublin and then made our way to Galway to see the Cliffs of Moher, then off to Cork to see Blarney castle and back to Dublin to celebrate my 24th birthday in style. It was a gorgeous week and we made lots of fun friends and memories. Till next time! One of the highlights was getting to reconnect with my friend Niamh who I met when studying abroad and hadn't seen since 2015!
